12:46 pm - Your screen is dark. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
If I haven't thought to mention this before, Midwesterners are fucking insane. There is a complete lack of brain activity in about 90% of the people I come across. Is it so wrong that I just want to quit my job, flush my cell phone down the nearest public toilet, and trade my car for intoxicating substances??? It's getting sad. How weak was that? "Intoxicating Substances"?? See, I'm too worried about fucking social/business networking to be honest anymore!

To clarify:

Business Networking: People you meet for the exchange of the almighty dollar.

Social Networking: People that don't realize that you're only talking to them for the exchange of the almighty dollar.

Moral of the story:

The almighty dollar wins again

I haven't shopped at a Walmart in almost half a decade. I haven't turned on a television in almost half a year. I haven't given a fuck in... well I don't give a fuck to remember honestly. What happened to the soul, brotha man?? Where did I go wrong? My phone rings all day and night and it's no one I want to talk to... the pathetic society vultures trying to exchange packets that don't interest me. Everyone wants to buy, breed, blasphemy bought and paid for with their 10% - bullshit imho.

Screw you guys, I'm going home!

I have someone email me about once a week wanting my LJ account.

To save time, here's a quiz so you can try to impress me:  (you won't)

What is your name?

Where do you reside?

Why do you deserve my account?

What IRC network do you chat on?  (If you don't, just close the window)

What is your favorite operating system? Why?

What is your favorite platform?  Why?

12:55 pm - iBook pros and cons
I recently changed laptops. I've been using various Dell laptops for the past two years, and various Toshiba laptops since 1996 (Librettos and Sat Pros). All these laptops have had a few things in common: Intel CPU's, an various versions of Microsoft operating systems and Linux. That all changed a month ago. I was at a convention outside Little Rock, AR and bought an iBook off of some guy that said it was dead. I paid $20 for it. I figured the power adaptor was worth much more than that on eBay. I get home and boot it off the installation media include, an OS X 10.2 install cd. For an eMac. It boots to some low resolution shrunken display and can't find a hard drive to install to. I figure there is some kind of problem and boot it off an OS 9.2 cd I had laying around. Boots fine and still can't find the hard drive. Why can't it find the hard drive you wonder? Well so did I. So I opened the fucker up. Opening an iBook is about as much fun as being ass raped by a 7' black man in prison. Apple doesn't design stuff to ever be opened. It took a while, but I got the god damned thing apart. Problem: I couldn't locate the hard drive either. There was a 2.5"x4" or so cavity that looked like where a hard drive would go, so I looked around and sure enough that was an IDE ribbon cable laying next to the empty spot. Luckily, I had a spare P4 Dell with a 30gig hard drive I could rip out.

Manufactured a hard drive caddy with a piece of metal and some jb weld along with some screws from a Leupold scope mount :|. Booted off the shitty eMac restore CD and presto, I had a hard drive. Still had no mouse response, so I hunted around and sure enough the trackpad's ribbon cable had slipped off. I installed OS X 10.2 with the eMac cd, and it kept it's horribly small cryptic display resolution and refused to take up the whole display. bleh, fucking resore cd's. Then, after I installed, I ran System Update and when it got to the the 10.2.8 combined update it restarted. w00t. The OS X grey bootup screen appeared. And filled the entire display. I had a working iBook.

A Month later - I love it.
Instantly added applications: Firefox, iTerm (a much better terminal program), BitchX, GLQuake (networking support is wonderful)

Good things -

Almost NO crashes
Almost NO spyware
Great form-factor
Battery lasts 5+ hours
Built-in Optical audio-out jack
Built-in Firewire and DVI
Built-in 56k and 100bt Ethernet

Cons:

Requires Overpriced Airport card for WIFI (Mac Compliant USB adaptors are even few and far between and overpriced)
Light-Up Apple - Lights up when LCD backlight is on. Also allows sun and bright light to shine through and have a super-imposed apple watermark in the background. Maybe I'm too OCD, but this bothered me a tiny amount.
DVD/CD-RW drive refuses to read DVD+R media. Works fine with DVD-R, but no +R
Memory Configuration - Has 128mb onboard and a 256mb DIMM. Why can't it have two DIMMs? I will probably end up sticking a 512mb or 1024mb stick in it, but I'd rather have 512+256 than 512+128. Or I could go for 512+512 :D.

That's pretty much it. It's a great laptop, and it's becoming my favorite and most used.

I NOW HAVE ALL OF MY SHIT BACK.
For more details visit My MySpace Blog

Just for all my homies in the Tulsa area:

The following gear was stolen about two hours ago, and the loss of this gear halts both of my current projects:

Yamaha DTXpress III Drumset with Module and rack

Yamaha DJX Keyboard with black "KACES" case

Fender Mexican Strat (Black w/white pickguard) with 50th anniversary sticker on back of headstock and Black fender contour hardcase.

Korg X5DR 1/2rack Synth

Kord EM-1 Electribe (unit is heavily worn)

Cort 5-string Bass (transparent red finish)

Fender/Squire Strat metallic red automotive paint job with nickel plated Floyd rose tremolo and a GIBSON CHROME PICKUP IN THE BRIDGE POSITION. THIS GUITAR IS VERY ODD LOOKING.

All serial numbers are avaliable if you think you've spotted one of these items. I will give some kind of a CASH REWARD to whoever finds these items, or the people responsible for their theft. The thiefs were spotted leaving in a dark colored Toyota SUV (late 90's model) with a Texas Tag.

This is all MY PERSONAL equipment, I have NO SPONSORSHIP, and this is NOT covered by my Automotive or Home-Owners Insurance. ANY HELP AT ALL WOULD BE GREAT.

If you have ANY info, email SIKSEKZSIX@YAHOO.COM

If you have my shit, run and hide.

Well today I recieved my package from Musicians Friend, which is amazing, considering it only shipped out yesterday. (UPS Ground, at that) Here's what I thought of the junk I bought....

Pintech TC-10 Trigger Cymbal: List $59 Street $30 I was getting this to use a hi-hat trigger on my Roland TD-5 I'm selling, and I must say it works quite well for that purpose. It does excellent on 1/8 and 1/16 note triggering, giving no false triggers, and triggering every time it should. This 10" Pad is labeled "Velocity Sensitive", but I wouldn't suggest using it for sensitive operations such as a velocity responsive ride (ie: bow sound and bell sound based on velocity through a single trigger input), but for crash and hihat uses, I would definately buy one again. Keep in mind, this is on sale right now for thirty fucking dollars, which is insanely cheap. I even tried tapping the cymbal on the opposite edge from the sensor unit, and it still triggered perfectly. Musicians Friend also sells 14 and 16 inch versions for around $40.

Pintech K3 Ergonomic Kick Trigger: List $65 Street $40 This unit is built like a tank, and triggers 100%. I was quite suprised, I figured the unit would be no match compared to the Pintech CK-V or the Roland 10" Kick, but the K3 actually is a very responsive kick unit. The Pad (around 5 inches wide) is 100% responsive all the way across, and probably would work fine with some of the double pedal units avaliable today. I tested the unit with a new Pearl P-120 Single Kick pedal, and the only problem I have had is that neither the K3 or the Pearl pedal have any kind of anchoring devices, so the entire unit slides a bit.

At the Full Moon tonight, I saw Charlie Red and the Full Flavor Kings, a kind of funk-a-delic jam band. Had a couple long island iced teas and was very impressed with a set including great covers of Outkast, The Time (Yes, that song from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back), James Brown, and Rick James. The combo included a singing bassist, a guitar, a player, a trumpet, and a drummer.

Well, I stopped by Music Go Round today and picked up a new Pearl bass pedal, to use on the Pintech Kick Trigger I ordered yesterday from Musicians Friend. I also ordered half a dozen 20' guitar cables and a Pintech Trigger Cymbal I had wanted to try out. After careful consideration, I decided I'm going to order another Yamaha DTXpress III on Friday, February 4. I've done a lot of research, which I intend to post online, comparing just about every e-drum set under $2,000 and have come to the conclusion that the DTX III is by far the best module (Compared to the Roland TD-3 and TD-6, Alesis DM5, and Pintech's EZ) and the trigger set is one of the best in the price range, and the only to include a THREE zone snare pad.

I had certain other gripes about other sets:

Pintech EZ - $800 - Only Two Toms, one zone snare, and a recycled Pacific Digital module. (Mesh Pads)

Pintech Spirit USA Plus -$820 - Has a K-3/L-3 bass trigger, which sucks. Also, no module. (Mesh Pads)

Hart Dynamics Prodigy - $500 - Poor quality, everything is made of plastic. (This IS the cheapest set however and it DOES come with MESH pads.)

Roland TD-3 - $800 - Module sucks (8 SINGLE-ZONE inputs, bleh), Only two toms. (Rubber Pads)

I intend on eventualy adding a couple cymbals to the Yamaha set, probably Pintech PC series and atleast one additional pad (Probably a Roland PD-8, but Maybe a Pintech CC102ST).

As I have already mentioned, I am going to be taking offers on my old Roland electronic drum set...

here are the specs:
Roland TD-3 Module
TAMA Power Tower Rack (Heavy duty / made for acoustic drums)
Four Single-Zone TAMA Pads with replaceable heads
Two Pearl Cymbal Boom attatchments (sprayed flat black)
Pintech PC10 Hihat Trigger
Pintech kick trigger
Digitech RP-1 Effects Floorboard
Lots of extra TAMA Rack hardware, Cables to connect everything and the needed Power supplies.

Never ever ever shop at http://www.americanmusical.com. They are horrible people and they need to get aids (preferably from being analy-raped in prison) and slowly die.

Another excuse to advertise that this Thursday January 27 GUITAR CENTER is having it's Tulsa grand opening at 71st and Mingo. Thanks to the butt-fuckers at American Musical I now have a sudden increase in spending cash, and intend on taking full advantage of this new Guitar Center.

11:27 am - Hillbilly Sheriff and Evil Corporation not getting along...
When Corrections Corporation of America's lawyers decide whether or not to file the charges, they may have a hard time getting the Tulsa County Sheriff's office to serve the subpoena; On Tulsa County Sheriff Stanley Glanz that is. Apparently, Glanz is bitching and moaning about CCA's plethora of donations to different city officials around Tulsa, thinking that might give them an edge among the eight private corporations and the Tulsa County Sheriff's department which are all bidding for the contract to run the jail. Media has speculated that this all started with Sheriff Glanz and Warden Stewart of CCA arguing over whether Krispy Kream or Duncan Donuts was "the shiznit". Anyways, CCA has turned over a Press Release Sheriff Glanz made to KTUL Channel 8 accusing CCA of bribing city officials, they're calling this libel and considering civil action against the Sheriff.

Haven't had too much time to update recently. I've been scouring the local shops for either an 883 or a 1200 hd sportster, I must have ran across 50 of the fuckers, but none that jumped out and said "BUY ME". I'm going to look in Joplin and Springfield tomorrow, and see if I can find anything in KC on Friday. Myers-Duren in Tulsa has a 2004 Sportster 1200 demo I can have for $7200, with warranty and everything. In other news, I finished rebuilding the carb on the Honda and put the trailer hitch and light harness on the j33p, so more than likely my weekend is going to involve taking ATC's somewhere.

Went to a con in Springfield a couple weeks ago, put a new JVC mp3/wma/sirius deck in the j33p as the old deck sucked.

In other news, there was a random old school crowd at the Gypsy last night...
